Medieval Europe

Unit Outline: Students examine the main features of Medieval European society. In particular:
- the way of life in Medieval Europe (social, cultural, economic and political features)
- the roles and relationships of different groups in society. 

The key concepts:
  • Students develop an appreciation of history
  • Students develop an understanding of the workings of societies of the past
  • Students develop an appreciation of different perspectives and their role in history
  • Students develop an understanding of historical cause and its effect on the modern world

The learning matters because:
  • Students will learn about societies and civilisations of the past
  • Students will learn about the legacies of past societies and civilisations
  • Students will develop skills to undertake the process of historical inquiry
  • Students will develop skills to communicate their understanding of history

Learning Outcomes

-  HT4-5 identifies the meaning, purpose and context of historical sources
-  HT4-7 identifies and describes different contexts, perspectives and interpretations of the past

-  HT4-9 uses a range of historical terms and concepts when communicating an understanding of the past
